Wednesday, May 9th

Today was another warm and sunny day with a high of 65ºF.  The sky has changed from around 5 PM when there were cumulus humilis clouds to clear now.  It is currently 50ºF with a dew point of 41ºF.  The wind is 5 mph from the southwest, and the pressure is 29.94 inches.  Tonight more clear skies and a low of 42ºF is expected.  The forecast tomorrow is sunny skies and a high of 72ºF.  The high pressure systems that were over the western portion of the country have now arrived over our neck of the woods, and are bringing clear skies and warm weather as I predicted.
This can be seen in the surface map, which shows the high pressure system right over the state of Wisconsin and another by Missouri and Nebraska.  On the East Coast the large cold front is producing a lot of precipitation.  Low pressure systems and a cold front are moving in from the west.

Tuesday, May 8th

Today was a mild day that brought a little precipitation this evening.  It was mostly sunny for most of the day, and the high was 61ºF.  There was some light rain that started around 8 PM this evening, but only brought about 0.08 inches.  Right now it is 50ºF with a dew point of 46ºF.  The 29.91 inches, and the wind is coming from the northwest at 5 mph.  A low of 41ºF and some light rain is in the forecast tonight. Tomorrow should mostly sunny with a high of 67ºF.
The surface map is very similar to the one from yesterday, but does show the movements of things from west to east. The precipitation at the edge of the large cold front has moved to the east, and is now coming up on the Atlantic coast.  Four high pressure systems are moving towards the center of the country and should bring good weather to those areas for the rest of the week.  Finally, another cold front can be seen in Washington, Oregon, and Northern California.  There is also a large stationary front in Arizona that stretches into Utah and Mexico that is separating a low and high pressure system.

Monday, May 7th

Today was another warm, sunny day.  The high was 68ºF, and for most of the day, there were cumulus and some cirrus clouds covering about 30% of the sky.  Right now the temperature is 54ºF with a dew point of 45ºF, and winds from the west at about 5 mph.  There also appears to still be some cumulus clouds in the sky.  A low of 44ºF is expected for tonight, and a high of 61ºF with some rain tomorrow evening is in the forecast.
The surface map shows a low pressure system to the north of the state, which could be the cause of the rain that is in the forecast for tomorrow.  There is also a very long cold front extending through most of the country with precipitation all along it.  The western part of the country shows three high pressure systems that should bring good weather later in the week.

Sunday, May 6th

After a few thunderstorms have traveled through the past few days, today was precipitation free.  Yesterdays storms brought an estimated 0.61 inches of rain.  Today's high was 59ºF and was overcast for most of the day.  It is currently 53ºF with  a dew point of 53ºF, indicating that there is 100% humidity.  There is a wind from the east at about 3 mph.  Tonight the temperature should only drop a few degrees, and a low of 50ºF is expected.  A high of 70ºF is being predicted, as well as clearing skies as the day goes on.
As you can see, the current surface map shows an occluded front right over Eau Claire that stretches from a low pressure system in Iowa up into Canada.

Friday, May 4th

So far, today has been a beautiful and sunny day with a high of 75ºF.  Right now it is 71ºF with a dew point of 54ºF.  The wind is from the southeast at 13 mph, and the pressure is 29.94 in.  This morning/early afternoon the skies were clear, but now they are overcast as a line of thunderstorms is approaching from the west.  The storms have just began moving into the state, and precipitation can be expected in about two hours.  The rain should only last for about three hours, and a low of 51ºF is expected.  Tomorrow should be cooler and also bring some rain.
The current surface map shows some scattered areas of precipitation throughout the country, as well as the line of storms approaching us at the moment.  A large cold/stationary front associated with low pressure systems is currently stretching from New York all the way to southern California.

Tuesday, May 1st

Today was a very nice and sunny day, with a high of 72ºF.  Right now there are some cirrostratus clouds covering about 70% of the sky, and the temperature is 68ºF.  The dew point is 55ºF, the pressure is 29.67 in, and there is a wind from the southeast at about 10 mph.  The temperature has been dropping throughout the day because there are several low pressure systems moving in from the west.  There are some thunderstorms over the state of Minnesota that should make their way over tonight.  The southerly wind will keep bringing warm air from the warm front located south of the state, and the temperature will not drop too much tonight.  A low of 60ºF is expected, along with about a half an inch of rain.  Tomorrow should bring warmer temperatures in the mid 80s, and another thunderstorm or two may pass through.
